Shelbourne 0 - Steaua Bucharest 0
Goalkeeper Dean Delaney was in fine form throughout and midfielder Ollie Cahill said: 'It probably wasn't a great game to watch but that's what European matches are all about. We're very happy and it sets us up for next week.'
Indeed it could have been even better for Shels if they had managed to take one of several half-chances that came their way on the night. Although the Eircom side are delighted with the result, it will be an almighty challenge for them to get a result in Bucharest next week and progress to the third qualifying round for the second year running.
This task has been made even tougher with the loss of Colin Hawkins who received his second yellow card of the competition and so misses next weeks game.
