Shamrock Rovers defender Pat Sullivan headed the winner in their tough away fixture over Galway United. The Terryland side had opportunities, but the Hoops defender headed in to score the winner. Later in the game O'Sullivan was stretchered off with a suspected cruciate ligament injury.
St Patrick’s Athletic and Bohemians were held to goaless draws against Dundalk and Sligo Rovers respectively at the weekend. Pat’s have not conceded a goal this season, and remain top on goal difference. Bohemians could not score against Sligo Rovers, and their inspirational keeper Richard Brush.
UCD recorded an important win over Bray Wanderers in Belfield in what is thought to be part of this seasons relegation battle. A Ciaran Kilduff goal was the decisive winner. Sporting Fingal won a second successive game in the top division as they thumped Drogheda United by 4-1.
