O'Neill Angry At Mathews

Drogheda Manager Alan Mathews has been called unprofessional by Hoops boss Michael O'Neill. Mathews accused Hoops defender Pat Flynn of headbutting Drogheda player Paul Shields in the 1-1 Cup draw. It was later revealed drom T.V. footage that no contact to the player was made.

After the replay on Tuesday ended in a 3-0 Rovers win the upset manager told the Irish Sun

"We were upset by the comments made by the Drogheda manager in relation to Saturday. That was disappointing and unprofessional.

"When it was shown on TV, it was shown that the player was innocent and it was an honest challenge. To make a comment which was a slur on a player's character was very poor and something I wouldn't expect from a manager
