Cork City chairman Tom Coughlan is facing a bill of around €225,000 it was revealed on Tuesday. The club have already forked out €100,000 to the Revenue for outstanding tax debts. Coughlan is disputing the exact amount he is meant to owe the Revenue.
Cork City's legal team went to High Court on Monday over substantial tax liabilities. The case was adjourned for a month by Justice Mary Laffoy to give Cork a chance to pay the bill. The deadline for this payment is Monday, July 13th.
Coughlan became chairman following a period of examinership last year is in dispute about the figures involved.
He told the Irish Daily Star
"There's a difference of opinion as to what those monies are, and obviously that has got to be resolved between our people and their people and it's very urgent that we do so.
"I will call the auditors and hopefully we can meet in the next few days."
