Limerick manager Noel O'Connor confirmed that the club had entered into talks with Dolan and were hopeful of getting him on board.
O'Connor said: 'I spent two years as Pat's assistant at Cork City and learned a lot from him. He has the experience and expertise to take Limerick to a higher level. We have a very young panel and all would benefit. Our talks went well and we are hoping for a positive response.'
O'Connor revealed that their former player Pat Purcell, who spent a couple of seasons with Waterford, has returned to the club, and that he was also locked in negotiations with at least three other players.
