Collins Sacked as Rovers Boss

The move comes as no surprise after the club suspended Collins on Wednesday November 16.

Assistant manager Terry Eviston resigned the following day, while Alan O'Neill took the reins on a caretaker capacity.

Last Friday Dublin City defeated Rovers in the relegation/promotion playoff in what has been a miserable two weeks for the club.

However, Rovers have been handed a timely boost after their relegation with the news that their proposed move to a new stadium in Tallaght has moved a step closer.

The Local Area Committee of South Dublin County Council yesterday approved plans to complete the building of the stadium.

An amendment which could see other sports, including GAA, being played in the stadium was approved. However under the proposals Rovers will still be anchor tenants and will be given leave to build their own clubhouse.

The decision will go before the full County Council in two weeks.
