eircom League: First Division results, Saturday October 2 -
Limerick FC 1 Finn Harps 4
Kildare County 3 Dundalk 0
Kilkenny City 0 Bray Wanderers 1
Sligo Rovers 1 Athlone Town 2
Cobh Ramblers 8 Monaghan United 1
Former Wrexham midfielder Warren grabbed the league's most-goals-in-one-game record as third-from-bottom Cobh earned their first eircom League First Division win since August.
The 23-year-old wracked up a nine-minute hat-trick as he struck on 11, 16 and 20 minutes at St Colman's Park. Robert Brosnan made it 4 for Cobh on the half-hour. Warren, signed back from Cork City last March, added another on 55 minutes, Steve Yelverton a sixth with thirteen minutes remaining, and Warren completed his record-breaking feat, beating United goalkeeper Vladimir Munteanu again on 82 and 87 minutes.
Ironically Warren's eleventh minute goal was his first for 14 games. The Cork man also notched a hat-trick in the corresponding fixture last season, as Ramblers won 6-1 in August 2003.
Philip Sheppard, on loan from St Pat's, gained a late consolation for the visitors last night.
Elsewhere Finn Harps moved within a point of leaders UCD with a 4-1 win over Limerick.
Sean Connor's first game in charge of Sligo Rovers ended in a 2-1 home loss to Athlone. Stephen Fox kept Bray Wanderers in the promotion hunt with a 52nd minute winner at Kilkenny. Kildare County remain four points behind third-placed Bray after their 3-0 victory at home to Dundalk.
