Setanta Cup: Shelbourne 1-1 Derry City

Last updated : 04 April 2006 By Gerry Ormonde

Instead of meeting Drogheda United at Tolka Park, Shels must now travel to meet league champions Cork City at Turner's Cross.

Derry started brightly with Mark Farren shaving a post, but it counted for little as Shels stole the lead with their first meaningful attack on 17 minutes.

Sean Dillon put Glen Crowe in behind Eddie McCallion down the right and he picked out strike partner Jason Byrne who swivelled to blast to the net for his sixth goal of the season.

But Derry got their due reward right on 90 minutes when Martyn's drive from just outside the area trickled into the bottom corner.
