Setanta Cup: Derry City 3-1 Glentoran

And Stephen Kenny's men produced an awesome display against the Irish League champions to share leadership of Group Two.

The Irish League champions had no answer to McCourt's pace and trickery and the former Rochdale player had an involvement in all three of Derry's first half goals.

Two McCourt corners were met by full-back, Sean Hargan, for two of those first half strikes while McCourt's low shot from distance was turned into the net by alert Gary Beckett.

Derry could even afford the luxury of missing an early second half penalty when Kevin McHugh blasted over from the spot after Chris Walker was harshly judged to have brought down Brian Cash inside the area.

Overall, it could have been an even great victory for the Candystripes but Walker grabbed a late consolation for the Glens when he drove the ball home from a short-free kick in the 90th minute.
