Philip Sheppard did his level best to alter that with two terrific chances.

The little striker, making his first start of the season, shot against a post on 50 minutes before firing inches wide 12 minutes later.

Harps' best chance came right at the death when substitute Davitt Walsh was just off target with a drive from the edge of the area.

Galway United blew a chance to go third in the eircom League, First Division, table as they had to settle for their fifth draw of the season at St. Colman's Park.

Willie Bruton fired Cobh in front on 20 minutes when getting on the end of Darren Murphy's flick to shoot past Alan Gough.

But Galway hit back within eight minutes when Ronan Frawley out-jumped Robert Brosnan to head home Barry Moran's free-kick.

Cobh's Kevin Murray was sent off in stoppage time following an off the ball incident.

Chrisy Doran missed the proverbial sitter as Kilkenny's goal drought stretched to six games in the eircom League, First Division..

Doran looked set to score on 50 minutes but somehow shot wide from three yards out following Conor McMahon's corner.

County created the only chance of a poor first half.

That came on six minutes when Alan Mulcahy's shot from the edge of the box was turned out for a corner by Aaron Shanahan.
