Premier Division: O'Dowd signs two-year Drogs deal

O’Dowd marks a sixth close season signing for United boss Paul Doolin, and the netminder becomes the tenth player in recent months to leave cash-strapped Rovers.

Doolin, who won a League title with O’Dowd at Derry City in 1997, said, “I’m delighted that we’ve got him. We’ve got two goalkeepers at the opposite ends of the spectrum and I would hope Gary (Rogers) will learn off Tony. It will also give us good competition and I will play whoever is in form.”

O’Dowd will be competing with Drogheda’s first choice ‘keeper Rogers, 22, after five seasons at Rovers where he struggled to get a regular run ahead of fellow stoppers Robbie Horgan and Barry Ryan.
