Premier Division: Drogs board backtracks on ticketing increase

Hot on the heels of their signing of goalkeeper Tony O’Dowd, their tenth of the close season, and Monday’s meeting with the Drogheda United Supporters Club, the Boyneside club’s board feel that their revised price structure will ‘encourage greater attendance at our matches’.

The new system will see admission allocated on a ground basis with an adult ground ticket costing E15, a student/OAP ticket E8 and an under 12 child being admitted for E5. Entrance to the stand for anyone of those groups will cost an extra E5, with a ground season ticket priced at E200, with sales to start as soon as possible.

Having initially balked at the proposed E25 entrance fee for the United Park stand, the Supporters Club have welcomed the club’s change of heart. In a statement of their own, the Supporters said, “Whilst we would have preferred slightly lower prices, we fully understand the board’s position and we are delighted that a compromise has been reached.”

The club’s players started back at pre-season training last Saturday at their new training base of Mosney.
