eircom League Premier Division:

Shamrock Rovers 2 (Grant 13, Fitzpatrick 38)

Shelbourne 4 (J Byrne 58 pen, 78, R Baker 69, Harris 73)

Liam Buckley's Hoops took the lead on 13 minutes when James Keddy's corner was headed past Shels' keeper Steve Williams by Stephen Grant for just his fourth goal of the season.

Despite a period of intense pressure from the league leaders, Rovers doubled their lead seven minutes before the break. Fitzpatrick ran onto Tony Grant's flick on, twisting past the clumsy challenge of defender Kevin Doherty and finishing to the Shels' net from twelve yards.

Shelbourne started the brighter in the second half and pulled a goal back on 58 minutes through a Jason Byrne spot kick. Suddenly it was all-Shels and when Ollie Cahill clipped a left wing cross in for Richie Baker to head home with twenty minutes remaining, it was game on at 2-2.

Baker turned provider and fed Stuart Byrne in the Rovers' area on 73 minutes. Byrne, without a league goal this season, headed into Jamie Harris' path across the goalmouth and the striker made no mistake with a headed-finish from six yards.

The Shelbourne goalscoring and heading wasn't finished yet as, with twelve minutes remaining, Jason Byrne sealed the win and his seventeenth goal of the league, when he glanced home David Crawley's corner for a 4-2 win.

Bohemians 3 (Heary 45, Keegan 59, 82)

Derry City 1 (C Martyn 21)

Substitute striker Paul Keegan bagged just his second and third goals of the league campaign in wrapping up an essential win for Stephen Kenny's Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Keegan replaced a fellow former Bray Wanderers' striker Robbie Doyle at the break and introduced some fresh impetus into the Bohs' attack.

Derry had taken the lead on 21 minutes through midfielder Ciaran Martyn from a 25-yard shot but crucially Bohs equalised before the interval with a low shot from Thomas Heary, following a one-two with Fergal Harkin on the edge of the Derry area.

Heary's first goal of the season inspired a great second half from the home side with Keegan, having been put through by Bobby Ryan and Harkin, shooting high to Alan Gough's net in the 59th minute for the lead goal at 2-1.

He was again put through on 82 minutes and finished brilliantly from a Morrison through ball.

The Candystripes' captain Peter Hutton, goalscorer in their first win in four months over Longford recently, was then sent off late on, for dissent, as the frustration boiled over for Gavin Dykes' men.
