First Division: Dundalk stuck in a rut

Last updated : 22 August 2003 By Dave Mervyn

eircom League First Division:

Dundalk 1 (Haylock 14)
Kilkenny City 1 (Quilty 77)

--------------------------------

For a once great club, this is bordering on a crisis. Having taken the lead through gary Haylock on 14 minutes Dundalk laboured and encouraged bottom placed City onto their shakey back four and eventually were undone by a 77th minute Lee Quilty goal.

The Lilywhites looked to have been improving with a 4-0 win over Galway and three points grabbed at St Mel's Park in July, but have fallen back into a slump on this evidence. They travel to Kildare County's Station Road tomorrow week and from now on, they can only hope to add more wins to another lacklustre season in the First Division.

Gary Haylock has been a guiding force for them, popping up for important goals with five so far this season. He netted last night when latching onto a deflection from a David ward shot.
