Mooney made it 2-1 in the 52nd minute with a clinical finish from the edge of the area after slipping between two Rovers’ defenders but the home side then equalised when Willo McDonagh headed home a Molloy cross from a tight angle.
On 74 minutes, the home side went back in front when Lee Roche slotted home from close range after being put through by Molloy before Mark Quigley made it 4-2 in injury time when he finished after Molloy had created the opportunity.
