In accordance with the process set out in the regulations, the FAI has referred the matter to the Independent Doping Tribunal.
The three member Tribunal comprises a senior legal practitioner, a medical practitioner and a sports administrator.
The Tribunal shall determine whether a doping offence has been committed and if so, ascertain the appropriate penalty to be imposed in the case in question.
The FAI has a strict doping control policy with detailed procedures and regulations which are in line with both FIFA and the Irish Sports Council guidelines.
Random drug testing is a routine part of these procedures and was introduced by the FAI in 2002.
