It was Bohs' who exerted all the early pressure with Aidan O'Keefe shooting
narrowly wide in the 13th minute and Stephen Ward saw his great header come back of the crossbar two minutes later.

Bohemians were then awarded a dubious penalty in the 18th minute after O'Brien appeared to gain clean possession of the ball but the ref adjudged it a foul on Mark Duggan and duly pointed to the spot, but Kevin Hunt's kick was well saved by O'Brien.

Boh’s continued their domination into the second half and Stephen Ward was played through by Fergal Harkin played in the 52nd minute but his effort was brilliantly tipped against the post by O'Brien.

Longford had a good chance to go in front in the 69th minute when new boy Dave Mooney was put through on goal by Dean Fitzgerald, but was denied by a fine Matt Gregg save.

Two minutes later Town took the lead. Dessie Baker's cross offered a half-chance to Danny O'Connor, whose effort broke to Paul Keegan and the former Bohemians player somehow managed to prod the ball home for a shock three points.
