Lynch opened the scoring
In an even first half, Drogheda opened the scoring in the 41st minute from the penalty spot after O'Brien was hauled down in the box by Aiden Collins.

Damien Lynch stepped up and cracked the ball to the bottom left hand corner of the net to give the home side the lead.

Bohemians went in search of an equaliser straight from the start of the second half and duly equalised on 54 minutes following a flowing move from defence which saw Fergal Harkin feed Gareth Farrelly who in turn delivered the ball to John Paul Kelly who cut in from the left to drive his shot home.

Two minutes later Bohemians took the lead when Harkin sent Stephen Rice away on the right, the wingers cross wasn't dealt with properly by the home defence who knocked the ball straight out to Aidan O'Keeffe, who made no mistake with his finish from 8 yards.

On the hour United leveled matters when Stephen Bradley whipped in a free from the left which Gavin Whelan flicked to the net with a deft header.

Bohemans were then reduced to ten men when Collins was dmissed for a hefty challenge on Sandvliet, which earned him a second yellow card.

The closing minutes saw Drogheda's numerical advantage begin to tell as they took complete control but just when it appeared Bohemians had held out for a point, Gavin Whelan swung a cross over from the right which deceived keeper Gregg coming off the far post before nestling in the back of the net.
