Bohemians moved menacingly into fifth place in the Premier Division thanks to a late winner from Paul Keegan at 02 Park this evening.
Only their fifth win in fourteen games and second over Drogheda this season, Bohs took the initiative early on with Glen Crowe almost breaking the deadlock on 34 minutes, forcing Gary Rogers into a brilliant save.
Darren Beesley, deemed fit following a back injury, crossed for striker Andy Myler to head home at the back post four minutes after the break for a home lead against the run of play.
Drogheda seemed content to hold for the victory before Rogers was adjudged to have brought down Crowe in his area on 67 minutes. Bohs’ skipper Kevin Hunt struck low to the United net to equalise.
An inswinging Fergal Harkin corner in the 92nd minute however was headed home by substitute Keegan to bolster the Bohemians squad and their title challenge, as they now lie eight points adrift.
