The Hoops got off to a fine start and Tony Sheridan wasted a gilt-edged chance for the visitors in the third minute when he ballooned the ball over the bar for 8 yards.

However Drogheda were also guilty of poor finishing although Steven Gray was unlucky when his header bounced off the post just before half-time.

The Boynesider's threat waned in the later stages although Jermaine Sandvliet had two fine long range efforts blocked.

At the other end Rovers captain Trevor Molloy forced a fine save from Dan Connor, but both side's held out for a scoreless draw.
