Gregg denied Drogheda a third when he somehow tipped a Simon Webb free to safety with 27 minutes gone.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the closing stages of the half when firstly Fergal Harkins free was beaten away by Dan Connor and then the home custodian had to be at his best to deny player manager Gareth Farrelly from another set piece.
