League Cup finalists Longford failed to notch their third league win of the season, despite having the lions’ share of possession against fellow basement dwellers Drogheda last night.

In a repeat of their 2-2 result at O2 Park earlier in the season, both sides seemed content to play out a draw, particularly Drogheda, who edged back above Derry and out of the bottom three with the point.

Andy Myler fluffed United’s best chance of the night late in the first half shooting wide following a one-two with Derek Delaney. Home side Town, still minus the services of keeper Stephen O’Brien, went closest in the second half through two Sean Francis headers.
