Bohemians 0 - 2 Shamrock Rovers

Having put his side one up just before the break, Cassidy produced a sublime effort to beat four players and curl a shot sweetly into the top corner after seventy-four minutes after Bohs had missed a second-half penalty.

If Friday's game was one of intensity and passion this was the direct opposite in the opening forty-five as both teams seemed flat and lacking in any cutting edge.

Bohs had, arguably, the better of the half without troubling the Rovers' goalkeeper.

Any advantage in the possession stakes was blasted away in injury time, however, when Tadhg Purcell crossed and Cassidy, the man whose glaring miss on Friday could have sent his team through there and then, calmly finished with a low shot from twelve yards.

Bohs had a penalty eight minutes into the second-half after John Paul Kelly had been cleaved while marauding into the Rovers' penalty area.

Gareth Farrelly tried his luck, but Barry Murphy saved brilliantly to keep the Hoops ahead and Cassidy's superb second goal confirmed their advance.

Bohemians: O'Brien; Rice, Heary, McGuinness, Powell (Dunphy, 75); Harkin, Kelly, Farrelly, Ward; Arkins (O'Keeffe, 27), Leech.

Shamrock Rovers: Murphy; O'Brien, Ryan, Price, Clarke; Cassidy, Kenny, Perth, O'Connor; Purcell, Rowe.
