Shamrock Rovers will only have themselves to blame this morning as they lost out to 10 man Derry City in the Tallaght Stadium last night. 3,500 fans witnessed a slow start to the game but in the 23rd minute Dessie Baker danced into the box and Peter Hutton tugged the strikerto give away a penalty.
Rovers captain Shane Robinson missed the penalty putting the ball wide. With two minutes before half-time Derry's Clive Delaney was sent off having received a booking early onpushed into Robinson and got his second.
Ian Bermingham flew down the left-flank and put the ball onto Bakers foot and dummied before slamming smashing in a beautiful goal. Sammy Morrow put in a cross to the back post and Tommy Stewart headed the ball low past Barry Murphy.
Sean O'Connor and then Robinson missed some perfect openings to win it for Rovers. With just four minutes on the clock Ciaran Martyn blasted a great effort to the bottom right-hand corner to snatch victory and break Tallaghts hearts.
