The Dutch side attacked the Irish straight from kick off and De Haff’s shot was well saved by Ger Hanley in the Irish goal.
Dutch striker, Karin was once again causing problems for the Republic of Ireland defence on 12 minutes when he took advantage of some slack Irish defending, only to see his effort saved by Hanley.
Crumlin United’s Shane Howard was causing problems for the Dutch defence on the right wing, his cross was headed narrowly over the bar by Darragh Satelle after 20 minutes.
The Netherlands were in front against the run of play on 29 minutes when De Haffe broke through the Irish defence to slip the ball under the Irish keeper.
The Republic of Ireland were unlucky not to equalise after 34 minutes when a Conor Clifford free kick was headed over by Shane Howard.
After the half-time interval, the game re-started with high intensity as the Irish pushed forward for an equaliser. Home Farm’s Paul Murphy made an excellent run from midfield through the Dutch defence and was unlucky to see his shot coming off the bar.
The Irish limited the Dutch attack, forcing them to take long range shots and speculative efforts.
As they game came to a close, Gavin Gunning had his header well saved by the Dutch keeper while Aaron Doran was unfortunate to have his well hit shot cannon back off the post.
After the game, Vincent Butler said, “It was a great game in which I feel we dominated most of the possession and had more chances than the Dutch. Our overall performance on the pitch has shown a massive improvement since Tuesday and I am very happy with the two games as this is the first time the squad have played together”
