Scarborough's Stephen Capper and Kevin Foley of Luton Town picked up injuries in training this week and have added to Givens' growing list of withdrawals - Liverpool's Darren Potter, Cork's John O'Flynn and Stockport's Jon Daly have all given up their seats on the plane.

It's unfortunate for Foley as he looked set to win his first cap at any level in the Irish set-up, having impressed Givens on a visit to Luton.

Flood made his first team debut for Manchester City against Total Network Solutions in the UEFA Cup.

Flood his first opportunity at Under 21 level. The 18-year-old is highly-rated at Manchester City and made his first team debut earlier this season against Total Network Solutions of Wales in the UEFA Cup. He is still eligible for selection for the Irish Under 19 squad, and also the World Youth Championships Under 20 squad due to be finalised in the coming weeks, ahead of the UAE-based November tournament.
