McGeady included in U21 squad

of Bolton Wanderers and Stephen Ireland, Manchester City, were part of the Senior International team who beat Sweden on March 1st last and have played regularly this season in the Premiership are in the squad of 18.

Aiden McGeady, Celtic, has already played three times for Ireland's Senior International team and he has also been included by team manager Don Givens.

Alex Bruce and Marcos Painter have both played in the Premiership this season for Birmingham City as has Willo Flood, Manchester City, and they are also named in what has the appearances of a strong squad.

The result of the tie, which will be played over two legs, will be critical to Ireland's prospects of proceeding to the Group Stages of the competition against Belgium and Greece in September.

Manager Don Givens said, “It is vital that we win these two legs against Azerbaijan on 11th and 18th May. I hope to put out my strongest players both in Baku and in the return at Buckley Park, Kilkenny, to ensure that this will happen”.

The first leg of the tie will take place in the Shafa Stadium, Baku on Thursday 11th May at 6.00pm local time. The return leg will take place in Buckley Park, Kilkenny on Thursday 18th May at 7.30pm.
