Alex Bruce is called into Irish U21 set-up

New faces to the squad include Birmingham City's Alex Bruce, son of Blues manager Steve, and some players who were not available for the Madeira Tournament.

Speaking after the announcement Givens was in an upbeat mood: "We had a great week of football in Madeira, the professionalism the squad showed both on and off the pitch was second to none and the quality of football was extremely high," he said.

"We need to build on this in preparation for our preliminary rounds for the European championships and this game against Sweden will begin our journey."
