Reading winger Stephen Hunt has signed a new contract with the Royals after weeks of speculation that he may move on. He signed a new deal six months ago but asked for a wage increase last month. He has agreed an improved contract reported to be worth £15,000 a week after attracting interest from West Ham and Bolton Wanderers.

Hunt joined Reading on a free transfer from Brentford in 2005. He was playing so well for Reading that Steve Staunton brought him in for Irish appearances against Wales and Slovakia last March. He went on the summer tour of America and played against Ecuador and Bolivia.

Director of football Nick Hammond told the clubs official website(www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk)

"Stephen Hunt is a great example of what can be achieved with belief, dedication and willpower. "He rose to the challenge last season with some superb performances to become a key member of our team, and we think he will get even better in the next three years."

Hunt told the website

"I'm very pleased to sign"

"Over the last couple of seasons the Club has become a very big part of my life and hopefully both the club and myself will continue to move forward. I am very happy to stay."
