Trap looks forward to new qualifying campaign

By Paul Jennings
Wednesday, 24th February 2010
Duff a key player

Giovanni Trapattoni is hoping Damien Duff can bring his fantastic club form to the International stage. The Fulham midfielder has scored and set up goals all season having moved from Newcastle in August.

Trapattoni said on http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/0223/ireland.html

"I saw a great goal, Duff was fantastic (on Sunday)."

"Not only the goal, his entire situation. He can play now, he's confident. Duff is very important for us."

Trap has included Marc Wilson, Greg Cunningham and the promising James McCarthy. The Italian wants the squad to put defeat at the hands of France behind us.

He said on http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/0223/ireland.html

"I look forward to working with my squad again after the disappointment of Paris. The priority now is to build on the progress made during the last campaign and prepare ourselves over the coming months mentally and tactically for an important Euro campaign."
