Glasgow Celtic have joined in the race to sign Noel Hunt from Dundee United. Reading had an earlier bid of £400,000 turned down as the tangerines look for a fee of around £1M. Celtic need some fresh faces and Hunts 18 goals in a modest SPL side could signal Gordan Strachans move for a proven goalscorer at this level.

Stephen Carr is wanted by a host of clubs with Wigan,West Ham,Bolton and Portsmouth all vying for his signature. Pompey are favourites and can offer him European football next season.

Paddy McCarthy has moved to Crystal Palace for £500,000 after leaving Charlton Athletic after one season. This is his second summer transfer in a row as he joined Charlton from Leicester City last summer. The Ireland B International hopes the move will help him break into Trapattonis Ireland squad.
