With the news after yesterdays Old Firm game that Robbie Keane is out of the Irish squad to face Brazil, came more misery for Giovanni Trapattoni as more players were injured. Richard Dunne pulled a muscle in the agonising 2-1 defeat to Machester United yesterday and has pulled out of the squad.
James McCarthy suffered a horrible injury when he was taken out by Liam Ridgewell in the Premiership at the weekend.
Wigan boss Marinez said on www.elevenaside.com
"It was an horrendous tackle and McCarthy's ankle is quite damaged. I don't think he will be able to play against Brazil which is a shame because it is his first senior call up.
"He will meet up with the squad but, the way he is now, he looks unlikely to be able to participate."
Trap has called up 16 goal Anthony Stokes to replace Keane, but is limited on centre halves with St Ledger and McShane the likely starting pair. Brazil will be missing their goal machine Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano Sevilla who has a stomach injury.
