St Pats Vs Rovers

Shamrock Rovers clawed back a point and put a dent into St Patricks Athletics title hopes. Hoops striker Padraig Amond who is on a good goalscoring run netted with 17 minutes to go at Richmond Park on Monday night.

The Premier Division table toppers scored in the fifth minute when striker Mark Quigley pounced. However Amond who is showing impressive form(he scored in his last two matches) levelled matters in the 73rd minute.

Amond should have grabbed the winner for the Shams when he was clean through St Pat's goalkeeper Barry Ryan to beat but the netminder made a title winning save.

Keith Fahey was there pulling the strings for St PatsPats and he crossed for Quigley to fire in a daisy cutter for his 14th goal of the season.

Rovers hit back and Amond brought a save out of Ryan after a Ger O'Brien pass. It was end to end game and a great advertisement for Eircom League Football.

Both sides had chances to win the game and St Patricks striker Ryan Guy raced through and with only Rovers keeper Murphy to beat he blazed the ball over the bar.
