Cork City and Sunderland are reported to have agreed a fee for the 20 goal striker Roy O'Donavan. Sunderland will pay €500,000 but with appearances and Irish caps the fee could eventually rise to a Eircom League record €1M Euro.

O'Donovan will not be allowed play for Cork again as Eircom league rules state that a player who transfers to a different jurisdiction cannot play back in the league for 8 weeks after the transfer.

He turned down a move to Fulham after Sunderland got involved in their recent visit to the Rebel County. He will travel to Sunderland and a medical and personal terms should be finalised by the end of the week.
