Roy Keane will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Switzerland after breaking two ribs while playing for his club, Manchester United. Keane is now certain to miss out, which will open the door for youngsters like Graham Barrett, Alan Quinn or Andy Reid to stake a claim alongside regulars like Kevin Kilbane and Matt Holland.

Brian Kerr and the FAIreland medical team have been in conatct with the Manchester United mediacl staff to assess the situation.

After their heroic performances in the Champions League qualifiers this season against Hadjuk Split and Deportivo La Coruna. Shelbourne have been handed a tough tie against French Ligue team Lille in the UEFA Cup. The side, who played Manchester United in the Champions League as recent as 2001, is a nother big obstacle in Shels Euro adventure this year.

Pat Fenlon's men will play the first leg in Dublin on the 16th of September and travel to France on September 30th.

Highly-rated Spurs youngster Mark Yeate had joined Swindon Town on a loan deal. Under-21 striker Yeates made his spurs debut at the end of last season and Jaques Santini is thought to be a fan of the Dubliner.

And finally, former Bolton, Everton and Aston Villa midfielder has been officially unveiled as the new manager of Eircom League side Bohemians.

Having taken just one training session so far, Farrelly will allow caretaker manager and his new assistant Gary Howlett to select the side for the next two games - against Shamrock Rovers on Sunday and the eircom League Cup final against Longford Town on Monday – while he watches from the stands accessing what his available to him.
