Republic of Ireland-Trap was wanted by Juventus

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has told that he turned down an approch from his old club Juventus a few months ago. The former 'Old Lady' boss who had magnifient success at Juventus in the 80's claims he was being touted for the job as Ciro Ferrara was sacked at the end of January.

The 71 year old felt it was not in his interests to become a club manager again as he has a contact with the Republic of Ireland that is until 2012. Trapattoni was Juventus manger for 13 years and 2 different times.

'With a heavy heart I turned it down because it was impossible for me to be involved in a national team and club football,' 'It would not have been a serious option.'
