Stephen Reid was out for most of the last 14 months. He injured his back and knee in the Republic of Irelands first qualifier against Germany. After coming back and breaking down he was left to recover and it seems to have paid off. He is set to stay with Blackburn and wants to perform at both club and International level.
He is now 28 and sees this season as a make or break regarding staying fit. This led Reis to start his pre-season training over 2 weeks earlier than anybody else. He knows after missing so much time that he will have to be fitter and stronger and put more effort than the players who haven't had much injury.
He said
"Obviously, I haven't played a full part in the last couple of pre-seasons, in particular last summer when I missed the whole of it, and it's always difficult to catch up after that," said Reid.
"But this season, fingers crossed, I'll be taking part in every session, every day. I came in a couple of weeks ago juts to get myself ticking over before the rest of the lads came in.
"I've had talks with the fitness coaches and a couple of lads behind the scenes, and one of the most important things is to get a full pre-season under your belt, because it increases your chances of playing a full season injury free."
