Reid Looks Forward to Terrific Atmosphere

Andy Reid looking forward to the game
He believes that the French will be apprehensive about visiting Lansdowne Road and with the Sold Out signs already going up, a terrific atmosphere will be in store.

"Look at our record at Lansdowne Road," said Reid "there are not many teams who come here and get a good result. We have turned it in to a fortress and they know they will be in for a tough game."

And it's not just the electric atmosphere that Reid believes France should be wary of.

"On top of that they know we have some quality players who are capable of causing them problems."

The last time one of the footballing superpowers visited Lansdowne they were left in no doubt of the type of game to expect when Roy Keane crunched into Holland's Mark Overmars in the first minute, and Reid says French playmaker Zinedine Zidane might be waiting for something similar.

"There are moments like that which have an effect on the rest of the squad and everybody in our squad is capable of one of those moments," said Reid

"Whether it be a tackle or a moment of brilliance. Different moments like that can affect a game but if Roy does get a tackle in on Zidane early in the game I think everyone will be happy!"

The game will also see one of the biggest clashes in the Premiership re-visited as Keane once more lines up against ex-Arsenal skipper Patrick Viera. And when these two compete sparks usually fly!

"I hope to stand alongside Roy to see if there's any banter before the game!" said Reid "They are world class players so there is a lot of pride involved but there's obviously going to be a competitive edge to it as well as neither of them will want to lose and with me being Irish I obviously want Roy to win it."
