Sir Alex Ferguson this week released Northern Ireland international Roy Carroll and is on the look out for a top class goalkeeper. Gianluigi Buffon and Paul Robinson have been linked but both are thought to be above Ferguson's allotted budget.
Republic Of Ireland no.1 Given will cost around £6 million (€8 million) to prise away from St. James.
Arsenal, who have had a tricky time finding a long term successor to David Seaman, are also linked to 28 year old Given.

Keane's former boss Gordon Strachan has this week taken over at Celtic following the departure of Martin O'Neill to care for his ill wife. Strachan paid Wolves £6 million for Keane when he was just 19, making him the most expensive teenager in British football at that time.
Strachan still admires Keane and views him as the natural successor to Henrik Larsson, who left for Barcelona in 2004.
Keane would be willing to discuss terms with the Parkhead club, as his place at Tottenham is far from guarenteed. Jermain Defoe, Freddie Kanoute and Mido among others are standing in the Dubliner's way of a regular spot in Martin Jol's line-up but Keane, should he join Celtic, would be the main striker.
No fee has yet been talked of.
