O'Shea said in the Evening Herald
"You look at the games in the group where we should have come out winning. Even in the campaign before that".
"Games we should have been winning, little things that don't go our way and not playing to the standards that we know we can, So, obviously, the players do accept responsibility along those lines, definitely".
Along with skipper Robbie Keane, O'Shea becomes the second player to openly discuss it being the players fault over the last 2 campaigns. Strange that they talk about it now that the manager has gone but refreshing in todays football.
The Irish players are in relaxed moods in Wales and had lots of time to speak to the media. Smiles again so hopefully everyone is batting for the same team again.
O'Shea said of Stauntons departure
"The lads are used to it, some more than others with club situations. It's part and parcel of the game, as they say. You've got to get on with it. Hopefully the new man that comes in will get us to South Africa. Thats what we have to aim for."
