O'Brien gets improved contract at Newcastle

The length of the contract remains the same, taking him up until the summer of 2007, but the financial terms have been improved.

The former Bradford City defender made 42 appearances for the Magpies last season, scoring one goal, as they finished fifth in the Premiership and progressed to the UEFA Cup semi-finals.
