Former French captain and Juventus manager Didier Deschamps is thought to be one of 3 candidates expected to have a chance of landing the vacant Irish managers role. Deschamps odds have plumeted down from 150-1 to 10-11 on today. It is unclear whether the 3 man committee have spoken with the Frenchman.
Terry Venables impressed the 3 man panel during his interview with his knowledge of Irish players playing in both England and Scotland and talent emerging in these divisions. However with talented young managers like Deschamps in the running Venables is not a certainty for the Republic of Ireland job.
