Leon Best was born in Nottingham but through his mother from Dublin qualifies for the Republic of Ireland.

The 21-year-old joined the sky blues from Southampton and has netted four goals this term depite a long injury lay off. He has not been in any Irish squad for 3 years.

He told the
Irish Daily Star

"I don't know what problem any Irish manager has about picking me but I've used the absence from the Irish squads to drive me on at club level.

"All the Irish lads at Coventry like Jay Tabb and Mick Doyle as well as my mates Mark Yeates and Darren Randolph are asking me what I have to do to get another cap.

"It's a bizarre situation but that won't stop me linking up with the squad if I'm selected."
