Roy O'Donovan signed for Sunderland on Thursday after agreeing personal terms with the black cats. He has signed a 3 year deal and could make Cork up to 1M Euro dependant on appearances and Internationalk caps.

He said:

""I had a choice between Fulham and Sunderland but when I spoke to the gaffer my mind was made up.

"This is a big challenge for me and when the chance came about, I didn't think twice. I had a knack for scoring goals in Ireland and I have to continue that at Sunderland."

Former Irish U-21 keeper Graham Stack has signed for Wolves as they lost their first choice keeper Matt Murray a week before the season begins. McCarthy knows Stack well with his time involved with the Irish team.

Another Irish goalkeeper Birminghams Cork born Colin Doyle is hoping to make an impact in the Premier League this term. He hopes to start this season the way he finished last term as Birminghams No1 keeper. He will battle with Northern Irelands Maik Taylor for the No1 spot and is expected to be Irelands 2nd choice behind Shay Given.

Ipswich Striker Alan Lee signed a new 2 year contract at Portman Road to end speculation he could leave. Hull City made an ambitious bid for the striker earlier last month.

Lee told the clubs website:

""I am glad to get things sorted but it was never in my mind to move on. We have some very good players and I want to play my part helping Ipswich get back to the Premiership."
