Wim Kovermans is really excited at the prospect of his new challenge on September the 1st. That is when he will take up his new position with the FAI as International Performance Director. He has already had similar roles in the Dutch FA's system but see his new job as a serious challenge.
Koevermans has lots of coaching experience as well as working with the Dutch youth system. He will be responsible for the FAI's new national academy for elite youth boys and girls.
He said on www.FAI.ie
"From the beginning I was really interested in this job,".
"I see similarities between Holland and Ireland. They are both small countries and a lot of the things I will be doing in this job are similar to what I've done before.
"I know from my experience that small countries have to work really, really hard to get players to a high level. It's a big job, and it's getting more difficult."
