Kitson having second thoughts

The door was opened for Kitson when Steve Staunton took over the Irish managerial role earlier this month and confirmed that he is interested in the player who qualifies for Ireland through the controversial 'granny rule'.

While Kitson initially brushed off declaring for Ireland, he now appears to have undergone a rethink.

"If they decide to make a move I would have to think about," the Reading player said.

"I don't want to be presumptuous, so we will have to wait to see. But if you want to play international football and you're eligible for two countries you have to have a serious think."

Swansea City's Lee Trundle has already stated an interest in declaring for Ireland, while Staunton is also believed to be interested in the eligibility of Coventry City's Gary McSheffrey.
