Kerr names squad for upcoming qualifiers

Kerr's charges face current World champions France at the Stade de France on Saturday week - October 9 - and four days later, entertain the Faroes at Lansdowne Road, in their final qualifier before March.

The Republic's midfield contingent is boosted by the return of Matt Holland and Liam Miller to the fray, with both having missed the previous two internationals against Cyprus and Switzerland.

Miller's Manchester United colleague John O'Shea, a substitute in last night's 6-2 Champions league victory over Fenerbache, has also recovered from the thigh muscle injury that forced him of the Swiss visit.

Manchester City defender Richard Dunne returns, as does striker Graham Barrett - having been a late addition through withdrawals in the September games. The Coventry City marksman turns 23 three days before the Paris fixture.

The squad, which also includes firework-fending midfielder Roy Keane, will assemble in Dublin for training on Tuesday 5th October and depart for Paris on Thursday 7th. They are due to return (with a point!) to Dublin on Sunday in preparation for the Faroes fixture.
