Liam Brady has been ridiculed by Sunderland manager Roy Keane. Keane thinks the role given to the former Republic of Ireland captain by Giovanni Trappattoni is clerical and that he as no idea what Brady will add to the set-up.

In Dublin for his yearly trip for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Keane said

"I don't think he will add anything. He's probably just a translator. It's a gut feeling which I follow a lot. I haven't got a clue what he's going to add not a clue."

This is coming from a man who as a player let his country down in their most important hour in the World Cup in 2002. Brady who represented his country 71 times never let his self importance get in the way of the Irish team and always showed up for Ireland games.

However Keanethought that Trapattoni is the perfect candidate for the top job:

"I think it's a job that suits an older manager, so please God he'll do well. His track record is there for all to see, he's got great credentials, so hopefully his good record will continue."
