Keane and seven others recalled for Poland trip

Kerr announced his 24-man squad this afternoon, with Hibernian goalkeeper Nicky Colgan, Tottenham right back Stephen Carr, West Ham striker David Connolly and Newcastle defender Andy O'Brien all returning to the squad, having withdrawn from the party to play the Czech Republic last month.

There could be quite a bit of interest when Keane and another recalled midfielder, namely Sunderland's Jason McAteer, clap eyes on each other. McAteer's club mate Gary Breen also returns for the tie which takes place in Bydgoszcz. Despite Keane returning for his first international since lining out against Nigeria in May 2002, Birmingham's Kenny Cunningham will continue in his role of captain.

Hearts' Alan Maybury and Liam Miller of Celtic are again included, having featured in the 2-1 victory over the Czechs at Lansdowne Road.

The squad in full is: Given (Newcastle United), Colgan (Hibernian), Kenny (Sheffield United), Maybury (Hearts), Cunningham (Birmingham City), Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur), Harte (Leeds United), Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), O'Brien (Newcastle United), Breen (Sunderland), O'Shea (Manchester United), Miller (Celtic), Roy Keane (Manchester United), Reid (Nottingham Forest), Holland (Charlton Athletic), Delap (Southampton), McAteer (Sunderland), Kinsella (West Bromwich Albion), Kilbane (Everton), Duff (Chelsea), Lee (Cardiff City), Connolly (West Ham United), Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Morrison (Birmingham City).

Ireland's allocation of tickets for the game next Wednesday, April 28, sold out as of yesterday, Monday April 19.
