Nottingham Forest are rumoured to be interested in Coventrys  former Republic of Ireland player Leon Best.

Best from Nottingham was an his apprentice with city rivals Notts County before he left for Southampton four years ago. He joined the sky blues in the summer, with a tribunal-decided fee of £650,000 for his services.

They cannot meet the instalments and with a transfer embargo by the Football League and Best could be on the move again in the New Year.
Colin Calderwood is watching for a move once the transfer window opens on New Years Day.

Chris McCanns future lies in tatters after the Burnley midfielder was sent home from the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad on Tuesday night 2 hours before the game after insisting he did not want to sit on the bench for the European Championship qualifier against Bulgaria.

The Dubliner was called up for the first time this month but his future looks bleak regarding the Internaional squad. He didn't play any part in the Montenegro game on Friday evening and wanted out when he was named on the bench for Tuesday's game against Bulgaria.

Manager Don Givens said

"The background was that Chris McCann came to me at 5.15pm and said he didn't want to be in the squad tonight. It was a waste of time him being here.

"He travelled to Montenegro and did not take part. He wasn't in the starting line-up tonight and he didn't want to be in the squad. I said to him 'have a think about it because it is obviously going to affect your future'.

"He said that he didn't want to be in so I said to pack his things and go. I regret now that he hadn't told me earlier because I'd have got somebody else on the bench. I'd have got a local boy in.

"I could have got somebody in because half this town would give their right arm to play for their country. Here's a kid who doesn't want to be there. I can never understand anybody that doesn't want to pull on the green shirt.

"I don't know the boy very well. He trained fine. There was no problem with his training in Dublin or here. As soon as the team was announced I wish he'd come to me then."

Asked about the player's future at international level Givens replied "Will I pick him again? Would you?"

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws isn't optimistic about the club getting Graham Kavanagh. The Dublin midfielder spent a month on loan earlier in the season and played eight times for the Owls.

Laws remains interested  but Kavanaghs wages represents a major obstacle.

He said

"Roy Keane is going to let him go and Graham's currently talking to a couple of clubs as we speak. It's looking more and more unlikely that he'll be coming to us because of the wages that might be a problem.

"But we're still looking to bring him back and looking at having a meeting with the chairman. I hope to have an answer by Wednesday."
